MADISON, Wis. (AP) â No last-minute surprise retirement announcements are expected as a deadline for incumbents to announce whether they will seek re-election nears. Friday is the deadline for office holders in Wisconsin to file paperwork announcing their intention not to seek re-election. Incumbents can miss the deadline, but that would give anyone running for the seat three additional days to circulate nomination papers. As of midday Thursday, three retiring Republican lawmakers had yet to file the required form but all were expected to meet the deadline. Republican Sen. Dale Schultz says he still plans on retiring and will get the form in on time. A spokeswoman for the committee working to elect Republican Assembly members says Reps. Don Pridemore and Chad Weininger will also submit the forms by the 5 p.m. Friday deadline.
