5-13-14 new police k9
The
City of Fond du Lac Police Department will be introducing the newest addition to its K9 Unit on
Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at 1:30PM.The introduction will take place at the City of Fond
du Lac Police Department – 126 N. Main Street. Officer
Charles Beckford and K9 “Rony” completed their intensive 4 week
training program on Friday, May 9, 2014. Their first regular patrol
shift together as a K9 Team will be Tuesday,
May 13, 2014. K9
“Rony” is a 3 year old German Shepard, and is trained as a Dual Purpose
Patrol Dog; trained in handler protection, searching for people, and
narcotic detections. Joining the department at the introduction will be Vince and Bekki Kuber – who funded the $11,500 purchase of K9 “Rony.” This is the third
K9 that the Kuber family has donated
to the law enforcement community and the second that they have donated
specifically to the City of Fond du Lac Police Department. The late
Marie Kuber had previously donated K9 “Addie” to the Lake Winnebago Area
MEG – Drug Unit, and the recently retired K9
“Grendel” to the City of Fond du Lac Police Department. “The
public is invited to join us to meet Officer Beckford and K9 “Rony” and
to help us thank Vince and Bekki Kuber for their family’s outstanding
and ongoing commitment in supporting
the City of Fond du Lac Police Department and our mission to protect
our community.” –
