Bail was set at $50,000 cash for a North Fond du Lac man
arrested in connection with a fire that damaged
a Fond du lac apartment complex. Laney Amons made his initial Fond du Lac Court appearance
Monday on charges of arson, burglary and criminal damage to property. Assistant police chief Steve Klein says Amons is accused of
setting fire to the Home Town Harbor apartment complex on North Seymour
Street
May 2nd. According to a criminal complaint Amons and his former
girlfriend had gotten into an argument earlier in the evening. The woman told investigators that Amons had broken into her apartment in
the past.
According to the complaint Amons was upset that his former
girlfriend was talking with another man at a bar…and squirted lighter
fluid on the television cord, outlet and lights to make it look like an
electrical fire.
The fire caused substantial damage to the apartment complex
and displaced residents in four separate apartment units. Fire Chief pete
O’Leary says its fortunate that nobody was hurt.
