Funeral services will be held today in Fond du lac for a
three year old boy who drowned in a Florida swimming pool last week. Zander Hughes drowned in the pool outside his family’s
rental home in Kissimmee, Florida July 2nd. Zander is the son of Fond du lac natives Paul and Michelle Hughes who moved to
Florida a couple of years ago. Michelle’s cousin
Tammy Abel-Bevan says the family still isn’t sure how Zander managed to get into the pool which is surrounded by a locked gate. He was found in the pool by his mother. Abel-Bevan says Zander was a wonderful child. "Oh my goodness, he was just a happy, bubbly child," Abel-Bevan told AM 1170 WFDL's Between the Lines program. "He was visually impaired in one eye but that did not stop him from living life to the fullest." Visitation for Zander will be held from 10am to 1:30pm Wednesday
at Zacheral Funeral Home in Fond du Lac, followed by funeral services and internment
at Calvary Cemetary. A memorial fund for the family has been established at Fox
Valley Savings Bank. A July 20th fundraiser is planned at the Top Hats
Motorcycle Club House on River Road.
