On July 17, 2013 at 10:50 AM the
Fond du Lac Fire Department was dispatched to a reported fire at 585 East
Division Street. Alliant Energy was on the scene working on a gas meter
and piping when a valve allowed gas to escape, which set off a small fire involving
the exterior of the house and nearby shrubbery. The fire also caused the power
line to the home to be severed. Alliant Energy personnel extinguished the
fire prior to our arrival. Upon arrival, fire crews investigated the
damage and searched for extension of fire into the structure. Alliant
Energy remained on scene to remedy the situation. The Fond du Lac Police
Department assisted with traffic control.
