MILWAUKEE (AP) — A Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate has backed off on his plan to distribute Ku Klux Klan-style hoods to Republicans at the state GOP convention. State Representative Brett Hulsey, a Madison Democrat, is running against the better-funded and more broadly supported Democratic candidate Mary Burke. He told reporters he planned to show up at convention in Milwaukee on Friday in a confederate soldier's uniform and hand out Ku Klux Klan-style hoods.
