The Governor’s Council on Tourism is meeting in Fond du Lac
Thursday with the announcement of a major increase in travel-related
expenditures in Fond du Lac and Wisconsin. State tourism
secretary Stephanie Klett more people are traveling and spending money in communities like Fond du lac and across
the state. "Wisconsin was up another $700 million to $17.5 billion travel expenditures in our state for 2013," Klett told AM 1170 WFDL's Between the Lines program. Klett credits the hard work of tourism officials in
communities across the state and a new marketing approach featuring humorous television
commercials. The latest commercial
started airing this week and features the stars from the classic "Airplane" movie…Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Robert
Hayes. Klett met with Fond du Lac tourism officials at a reception Wednesday night at Schreiners restaurant.
The tourism council spent the night at the Retlaw Plaza hotel and will tour LaClare Farms and the
Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts Thursday.
