Fond du Lac YMCA director Greg Giles says he’s honored and
humbled to be selected to serve on Fond du Lac city council. The council made their decision Monday after interviewing four finalists for
a council vacancy and will make it official at their meeting Wednesday night. Responding to concerns by some that there may have been a
conflict Because Giles served on the Association of Commerce panel
that
Interviewed council candidates for the Association’s
endorsement prior to the spring election. "I don't see it as a conflict and I defnately don't see it as a favor," Giles told AM 1170 WFDL's Between the Lines program. "...as a matter of fact during the interview process I specifically said to the entire council that I come forward with strong values, and at the end of the day if they think for some reason I would become a lightning rod or a distraction to the council then I'm not the person for the position. I was honest with them and said I don't see there being an issue." Giles will fill the seat vacated by the resignation of Dan
Manning earlier this year. The term
expires next April.
