7-3-13 snap calls for criminal investigaton into milwaukee archdiocese

A spokesman for a group that represents survivors of abusive priests says the group wants an investigation to determine if criminal charges should be filed against former Milwaukee Archbishop Timothy Dolan.  Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests state director,  John Pilmaier tells AM 1170 WFDL's Between the Lines program he doesn’t buy  the archdiocese claim that Dolan transferred $57 million in a cemetery care fund to formalize that trust.Pilmaier says SNAP believes Dolan shifted that money to hide it from bankruptcy proceedings.  "It is a crime to knowingly move funds around if you are already planning to declare bankruptcy,"  Pilmaier said.  'We have requested that the U.S. Attorney look into that."    The Milwaukee Archdiocese releaed 6,000 pages of internal church records that detail decades of  sexual abuse of children by priests and how the archdiocese handled the matter.  Pilmaier says while the release of the documents is a good first step…there are still more focuments that need to be released.  "We want the archdiocese to finish what they started.  Its important to get the truth out not only to bring some peace of mind to the people they've hurt but in order to protect the children who are in Catholic schools today, in Catholic parishes, and the way you protect them is to hold these people accountable,"  Pilmaier said.
Several of the priests lived and worked in Fond du Lac.
