7-15-13 pickup truck fire

Nobody was injured in a fire that destroyed a pickup truck in Fond du lac.  Firefighters were called to the scene at 115 E. 12th Street shortly after 11am Sunday.  Upon arrival fire crews found a pickup truck totally involved in fire and beginning to impinge on the houses on either side.  The truck was parked in the driveway which is shared by two residences.  " Luckily the truck's owner was alerted of the fire by a neighbor and a call to 911 was made. Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire before it caused too much damage to the nearby homes", said Fire Chief Peter O'Leary. The fire appears to have been a result of smoldering ashes that were in two plastic containers in the rear bed of the truck.  The fire was extinguished and there were no injuries. The Fond du Lac Police Department assisted with traffic control.
