7-12-13 uw flexible option

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Two institutions at the University of Wisconsin System have gotten approval to begin offering working adults the option to finish college degrees under the new Flexible Option program.
UW announced Thursday that the accrediting authority the Higher Learning Commission had given approval for the Flexible Option program at UW-Milwaukee and through UW Colleges.  The flexible degree program will allow students to earn college credit by demonstrating knowledge on tests. That knowledge may come from on-the-job training, military experience or coursework.  UW-Milwaukee received permission to offer three bachelor's degree programs for nurses, diagnostic imaging and information science and technology. It also received the go-ahead for the professional and technical communication certificate program.  UW Colleges received permission to offer the Associate of Arts and Science degree and certificate programs.
