7-12-13 doctor dies from injuries in amublance rollover accident
The UW Madison neonatal
doctor injured in an ambulance rollover accident in Fond du Lac County has
died. Thirty two year old Dr. Stanley
Phillips died Thursday night, UW Health officials said. Phillips and three
other medical workers were in a Meriter Hospital ambulance when the driver
failed to negotiate a curve on Highway 26 near Rosendale, struck a driveway
culvert and flipped over on its side.
The other passengers received non life-threatening injuries and the
driver was not injured. Meanwhile the accident is again raising questions about
the safety of Highway 26 in Fond du Lac County. Four people were injured,
one critically when an ambulance rolled over on Highway 26 near Willow Creek
Road. Sheriff’s Sergeant John Toney says there is a curve in the road and
a posted sign recommending motorists slow down to 45 mph. But otherwise
Toney says the curve is well marked and there is great site distance. But
is that curve dangerous? "Well apparently it is," Toney
told WFDL news. "This isn't the first accident that's occurred
there. There's been several crashes this year and over the course of
years at that location." Meanwhile Toney says the investigation into
this week’s accident continues.
