7-11-13 neo-natal doctor receives life-threatening injuries in fdl county ambulance rollover

Four people were hurt including one critically when an ambulance rolled over on Highway 26 in Fond du lac County.  Fond du lac County Sheriff’s sergeant, John Toney, says the accident happened shortly after 12:30pm Wednesday on Highway 26 near Willow Creek Road.   "Preliminary investigation shows that an ambulance from Meriter Health Services in Madison was traveling northbound on state Highway 26 when the driver failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway striking a driveway culvert and flipping onto its side,"  Toney said.   Toney says five Meriter Health Services employees were in the ambulance and a neonatal doctor suffered life-threatening head injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Neenah.  The driver was not injured.   Three other medical personnel were taken to hospitals in Fond du lac and Waupun with
non life-threatening injuries.  The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
