5-6-14 gottfried prairie and arboretum expansion plans

More than two decades after it was first opened plans are in the works for a major expansion of the UW Fond du lac Gottfried Prairie and Arboretum.   An advisory committee met Monday night to discuss and vote on a three phase expansion plan that includes connector paths through the prairie and arboretum,  and prairie expansion.  Arboretum director Tracy McDermott says long term plans also call for an ampitheater and office/storage building.  "An outdoor classroom, its just suiting for us for environmental education.  Part of our mission is to connect the public with that environmental space and the education of the environment, McDermott told WFDL news.  "We're very, very excited and hope to see some plans taking shape very soon."
