A 28 year
old Waupun man hs been arrested for the
hit and run accident at Countryside Village
Apartments located at 874 Security Dr . Assistant police chief Steve Klein says the arrest was made based
upon a tip. Klein says Holiday Dodge was also instrumental in helping
to determine the year, make and model of the vehicle based on debris left at the scene. The driver admitted to investigators that a
floor mat apparently got caught up under the brake pedal as he was backing up and he was not able to stop
which caused him to strike the building. The suspect driver then fled the scene returning to the
Waupun area.
Charges of Hit and Run and Failure to report an
accident are being forwarded to the DA’s office against Tom Benedict of Waupun.
