A nearly million dollar dredging project is underway at Fond
du lac’s Lakeside Park. Public
Works Director Jordan Skiff says dredging work in the channel started this week. "It just started this week. Things were delayed due to a number of factors, both with the type of disposal we were allowed to do and when we discovered some changes in the disposal site," Skiff told WFDL news. "The government shutdown affected the timing of the Corps of Engineers permit that we were required to get." Skiff says the dredging project will restore the channel
depth from just a few feet to closer to eight feet deep. He says the project will be completed next spring. The vacuumed sludge is being dumped at Lakeside Park west.
