The Lomira school district superintendent says a major
building remodeling project is needed to better
meet the needs of students. The Lomira school board decided last month to hold a $24
million dollar building referendum on February 18th. Superintendent Bob Lloyd says a major portion of the project will be improving the K-12 building cafeteria and kitchen area. "When I look at the opportunities that we will be able to have, a lot of the educational opportunities we try to create for our students has been hampered by honestly our lunch schedule," Lloyd told AM 1170 WFDL's Between the Lines program. "There's just absolutely no flexibility." Lloyd says a large portion of the referendum is for the demolition of the 1936, 1952 and portions of the 1964 building. "In its place we're going to have a much larger cafeteria area." The remodeling would also include new science and computer labs and relocating the football field to the east side of the
school. The owner of a $150,000 home would see an increase of
approximately $262 on their property tax bill. The first of four community forums on the proposal was held
Tuesday night at the Brownsville Community Center.
