Fond du lac Republican state representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt
says new revenue estimates
that show Wisconsin's state
budget with a huge surplus show Republican policies are working. The nonpartisan Legislative
Fiscal Bureau’s updated budget projection show state tax
collections are hundreds of
millions of dollars above previous estimates. "Lets put it this way, I was surprised by the amounts I was hearing, I wasn't surprised that there would be a surplus," Thiesfelt told AM 1170 WFDL's Between the Lines program. "Those are the results I expected. Because historically when you make tough decisions that are reasonable and make good on your campaign promises I think you are going to see positive results." Thiesfeldt says he thinks most of that money should go back to the taxpayers. Governor Scott Walker plans
to lay out a property tax cut and income tax withholding plan during his State of the State
address on January 22nd. Democrats are already raising
concerns about Walker's plan to cut taxes, saying he instead should be focused on finding ways to create
jobs. The Legislature last year cut
income taxes by $650 million and property taxes by $100 million.
