At approximately 1pm on Thursday, January 30, 2014
the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office 911 Center received a report of a head-on
traffic crash on STH 33, just east of CTH I (North) in the Township of Oak
Grove. This was approximately 2 miles
northwest of the City of Juneau.
Paul J. Wilder (46 years old from rural Beaver
Dam) was operating a 1993 Ford Ranger truck west on STH 33 when he lost control
and entered the east bound lane. He
struck an east bound 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Johnathan M. Barth
(24 years old from Waupun). Wilder was
pronounced deceased at the scene by the Dodge County Medical Examiner. Barth and his passenger, Alec R. Janzer (23
years old from Beaver Dam) were transported to a local hospital with what
appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
None of the three people involved in the crash were wearing seat belts. There are multiple factors that are being
investigated as to the causes of the crash and the injuries/death. At the time of the crash, the roadways in
Dodge County were snow-covered and/or slippery and were believed to be a
factor, but were not the only cause to the crash. Others
assisting the Sheriff’s Office were:
Juneau EMS and Fire Department, Beaver Dam EMS, DCERT, and the Dodge
County Medical Examiner. The crash is still under investigation by the
Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and our Crash Investigation Team.
