A
one vehicle accident on a snow covered, slippery road in Dodge County has
claimed the life of an elderly Jefferson woman. The
Dodge County Sheriff’s Department says rescue personnel were called
to the scene on County M near County J in the Township of Clyman around 9am
Sunday. The victim has been identified
as the passenger, 77 year old
Helen
Wellman from Jefferson. Preliminary
investigation shows that a Chevrolet Impala was traveling north on County M.
The driver lost control on snow covered and
slippery roads sliding off the road. The vehicle struck
the railroad signal gate crossing just south of County J. The
driver, a 77 year old male from Jefferson, suffered non-life threatening
injuries and was transported by
EMS to Watertown Hospital. The
accident remains under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office Crash
Investigation Team.
