9-4-13 national guard-same sex couple benefits

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin National Guard has received its first request from a same-sex couple seeking benefits. Tuesday is the first working day that gays in the military may apply for benefits. The Wisconsin guard says it's so far processing one request in full compliance with the Pentagon's new rules. Pentagon officials say Texas is turning couples away and Mississippi won't issue applications from state-owned offices.
