MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin added 7,300 private sector jobs in August while the state's unemployment rate dropped to 6.7 percent. The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development released the latest monthly unemployment figures Thursday. Unemployment dropped slightly compared with 6.8 percent in July. The state rate continues to be lower than the national unemployment rate of 7.3 percent. The figures are based on a survey of 3.6 percent of Wisconsin employers. Gov. Scott Walker's administration prefers to rely on quarterly data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics that is based on a survey of nearly every Wisconsin employer.
