The Fond du lac County Board is on record in support of the
Highway 23 expansion project in Fond du lac and Sheboygan
counties. The board voted Tuesday night in favor of a resolution supporting the
state DOT’s proposal to design and construct a four lane highway between
Plymouth and Fond du Lac. The
DOT recently announced the project start date had been restored to 2015…after it had earlier been pushed
back to 2018. County executive Al Buechel says he think the group that has filed a lawsuit to
halt the project is trying to delay it as long as they can so the DOT
will give up in frustration. But Buechel says at this point he thinks there is a very good
chance the project will start in 2015. Buechel also questions statistics from the group 1000 Friends of
Wisconsin that shows a significant drop in motor vehicle traffic on
Highway 23 going back to 2004.
