9-19-13 house fire
On
Wednesday September 18, 2013 at 7:38 p.m. Fond du Lac firefighters responded to
a report of house on fire at 38 N. Hickory St. Upon arrival firefighters
encountered heavy fire conditions from the first floor front room of the single
family residence. Crews were advised by dispatch that all occupants were safely
out of the house. Fire crews worked
quickly to stop the spread of the fire, but not before the fire extended into
the basement and the attic space. Additionally, much of the rest of the home
suffered extensive smoke and heat damage.
Police and fire investigators stayed on the scene to determine the cause
and origin of the fire. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this
time. There is no damage estimate
available and no injuries reported. The
Northeast Division of the American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist
the family displaced by the fire.
Alliant Energy, City Water Utility were also called to assist. The Fond du Lac Police Department assisted
with traffic and scene control as well as the fire investigation. Firefighters will be canvasing the
surrounding area on Thursday passing out fire safety information to all nearby
residents.
