Two men arrested in connection with multiple burglaries and
thefts at Fond du Lac County businesses, including a bar just outside of Ripon,
have been charged. 35-year-old Anthony Buechel and 25-year-old James
Meisner, both of Fond du lac, appeared Wednesday in Fond du Lac County Circuit
Court on charges of burglary to a building or dwelling, theft, criminal
damage to property and bail jumping.
According to a criminal complaint, a squad car positioned outside of
Players Bar around 3 a.m. the morning of October 25th noticed a
vehicle drive slowly past the business.
Later an individual was spotted walking towards the building and then
the officer noticed a flashlight moving around inside the building. The complaint says the individual fled the
area on foot, but the officer was able to find information in a car near the
property. The information led police to
Buechel – who was found a few hours later at his Fond du Lac residence. The complaint says Buechel told officers
Meisner broke into Players and took around $750, along with some bottles of
alcohol. When police questioned Meisner
he admitted to his involvement in the Players burglary as well as both men’s
involvement in four other burglaries.
Those took place October 15th at Lenny’s Bar on Highway 45
north, both Terry’s Bar in Eldorado and Lori’s Bar in Lamartine on October 20th,
and Touch the Earth Landscaping in the Town of Fond du Lac on October 24th. Several search warrants executed in Fond du
Lac turned up evidence and stolen items.
Police say additional charges could be coming, as the criminal complaint
does not reference all the burglaries.
The investigation continues.
