11-18-13 transgender ordinance

The author of a controversial transgender ordinance says debate over the issue is far from over regardless of how the Fond du Lac city council votes at a special meeting  Monday night.   Council president Sam Meyer says he wants the council to vote on the matter to "bring closure"  to the issue.  Councilmember Dan Manning is the sponsor of the amendment to add the words gender identity and expression to the list of protected classes under the city’s fair housing ordinance.   Manning says he pulled the ordinance from last week’s council agenda to give more
time to educate the community…and says regardless of the vote Monday plans to move forward with that community outreach effort.
