11-18-13 fairgrounds-digital signs

The Fond du Lac County Board has approved a budget that includes $75,000 for two electronic message boards near the fairgrounds.  The budget included $37,000 for an electronic sign on Fond du Lac Avenue and supervisor Jim Kiser proposed another $37,000 for a digital sign on Martin Avenue at Tuesday's county board meeting.  The signs will be funded with county sales tax proceeds.  But there are questions about whether the signs are appropriate on the Martin Avenue side of the Fairgrounds given all of the homes on the other side of the street.  County executive Al Buechel says he thinks the signs are a good idea.  "Its something we needed to do, I believe,  to better identify events at the fairgrounds."
