A 24 year veteran of the DNR has been tapped by DNR
secretary Cathy Stepp to be Wisconsin’s next chief conservation warden. Former Fond du Lac County DNR warden Todd Schaller will succeed Chief Warden Randy Stark who is
retiring in December. "i'm excited, I'm honored and I've told several people, I'm a little bit nervous," Schaller told AM 1170 WFDL's Between the Lines program. Schaller says he never dreamed he would be in this position
when he was first hired by the DNR in 1989. "Its obviously a huge step to take on this role but I am looking forward to it. I've got great staff to work with," Schaller said. Schaller says the warden service "is a great partner to
Wisconsin citizens who care about the resources." Four years ago Schaller was promoted to the chief of the
Recreation Enforcement and Education Section. He
spent his first dozen years as a field warden in Racine, Trempeleau and Fond du Lac counties.
