11-13-13 health overhaul-wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Democratic U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin is asking Republican Gov. Scott Walker to delay the health insurance enrollment deadline for Medicaid recipients who are losing their BadgerCare coverage in January.  Baldwin said in a letter to Walker on Tuesday that more time is needed to get the estimated 77,000 people expected to lose their Medicaid coverage signed up for subsidized private insurance sold through the online marketplace.  The federal exchange has been plagued with problems making it difficult for people to sign up.  Baldwin says because of those problems, Walker should allow those losing Medicaid coverage to remain on the program through the end of March.  Walker's administration said last week its goal was to get everyone affected signed up for private insurance by the Dec. 15 deadline.
