A project to bring wireless broadband to the rural areas of Fond du lac County is moving forward, but at a slower pace than first anticipated. The Fond du Lac County board was apprised of the progress at their meeting Tuesday night…a little more than a year after giving the okay for the project. County executive Al Buechel says some of the towers are in operation and the company plans to complete the project this year. "They have constructed a tower at Dotyvile on the town hall grounds, and one in the town of Ashford in the landfill area," Buechel said. Buechel says both of those towers will be in operation shortly for people who want to subscribe. Buechel says the permit process has been slower than expected in part because
of the time it takes to get frequency approval from the federal government. Buechel says there is a great need for reliable high speed Internet in the rural areas of the county.
