Rifle hunting will be allowed in the town of Eldorado during
the upcoming deer hunt. The
Eldorado town board met Wednesday night
and decided against an ordinance that would have restricted
rifle use during the deer hunt. The DNR announced earlier this fall that rifles will be
allowed statewide for the hunt, except where municipalities enact local restrictions. Towns and villages in 18 counties across eastern and western Wisconsin including Fond du Lac county are deciding if there are
public safety reasons to prohibit rifle hunting for deer.
The DNR announced the end of shotgun-only counties for deer hunting in Wisconsin as of November 1st. State DNR warden Todd Schaller says the concern is having
dozens of differing local regulations.
