11-5-13 fdl police squad car accident update

The state patrol is continuing its investigation into an accident Friday night that injured two Fond du Lac police officers.  Officers Melissa Sprangers and Kristen Kachlemeier were treated and released from the hospital after their squads collided at the intersection of Western Avenue and Macy Street.    Two parked cars were also damaged.  Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein says the police department will wait for the State patrol to complete its investigation before conducting its own internal investigation.  The accident raises the question about officers and rescue personnel response to emergency situations when they are approaching intersections.  Klein says that’s a question the state patrol will be looking at as part of their investigation.
