11-2-13 fdl police department law of the month

As the seasons change, the Fond du Lac Police Department would would like to remind everyone the importance of keeping all vehicle windshields and windows clear of any obstructions.  Please brush leaves, snow and ice from all windows before driving. Use your defrost and wipers when necessary. Remember to check your blades and wiper fluids to assist in keeping window cleaning easier. Wash windows when they start getting clouded with salt and dirt from the roadways.   Wisconsin State Statute 346.88 Obstruction of Operators View or Operating Mechanism, states (4) The windshield, side wings, and side and rear windows of a motor vehicle shall be kept reasonably clean at all times.   Drivers who fail to keep their windows clean and unobstructed not only increase the chance of an accident, but also run the risk of receiving a $88.80 citation and 2 demerit points on their driving record.  Fond du Lac Police Officers will be paying particular attention to these violations during the month of November.

As always buckle up and arrive alive.
