Construction could begin this spring on a new Fond du Lac motel proposed for the vacant site of the former Fond du Lac Dartmoor motel.  The Fond du Lac Board of Appeals has approved  a variance request at for a three story, 73 room Hampton Inn on North Rolling Meadows Drive.  The proposed motel would be about 10 feet higher than the maximum height allowed under zoning for the site.  A similar variance request for the site was approved by the Board of Appeals in 2007, but a proposed AmericInn was never constructed.   Planner JoEllyn Dahlin says the property has been sitting vacant for more than a decade.  The Board of Appeals also approved a variance request relating to building height of a proposed corporate office for Grande Cheese Company, to be constructed on a 40-acre site at Camelot Drive, north of Highway 151.
