2-3-14 hampton inn-fdl

A new motel is proposed for the vacant site of the former Fond du Lac Dartmoor motel.  The Fond du Lac Board of Appeals will discuss a variance request at their meeting Monday night for a three story Hampton Inn.  Surendra Burman of Lomira is asking for the variance on the building height for the 73 room motel at 77 North Pioneer Road.  The proposed motel would be about 10 feet higher than the maximum height allowed under zoning for the site.  In a memo Planner Joellyn Dahlin  recommends approval with several conditions regarding signage and lighting. The hotel would be constructed on the north half of the lot and take up 2.79 acres.  A similar variance request for the site was approved by the Board of Appeals in 2007, but a proposed AmericInn was never constructed.  The Board of Appeals will also consider a variance request relating to building height of a proposed corporate office for Grande Cheese Company, to be constructed on a 40-acre site at Camelot Drive, north of Highway 151.
