4-3-14 local unemployment rate up

The unemployment rate is up locally in the latest reporting period.  The Dodge County unemployment rate for February stands at 7.8 percent, up from 7.3 percent in January.  The Fond du Lac County unemployment rate increased from 6.4 to seven percent in February.  In the city of Fond du Lac the jobless rate inched up one tenth of a percent to 7.6 percent.  The unemployment rate increased in all 12 metro areas of the stateand all but three of Wisconsin’s 72 counties.   The Department of Workforce Development

says rate increases this time of year are typical due to an expanding labor force as more individuals seek employment with an improving economy and increasing job postings.
