The Fond du Lac School Board has scheduled a special meeting
for Thursday evening to consider approval of a new teacher
compensation plan. The board met
in a workshop session last week but did not take action. Fond du
Lac school board member Julie Nett says she supports the plan. "I genuinely feel that it's a good plan. We're going to do the best we can to keep good people teaching our great kids. I feel this compensation package does that," Nett told WFDL news. "The number one thing also, we can't burden our taxpayers. Eighty-five percent of our budget goes toward wages...I genuinely feel its a fair compensation package." At last week’s school board meeting, special education
teacher Shannon Ferguson aired her concerns about the plan and said the fact that dozens of teachers have left the
district in recent years should raise a red flag. Superintendent Dr. Jim Sebert says the compensation plan is
designed to treat everyone equitably
and to be sustainable into the future.
