A ground breaking
ceremony for the Fond du Lac County Campbellsport Highway Garage is scheduled for next week. The ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, April
24th at 12:30 pm at the new site for the garage in the Village of
Campbellsport’s new Industrial Park located off of CTH W at 284 Industrial
Parkway, Campbellsport. Fond du Lac County Staff along with the County Executive
and members of the Highway, Airport and Facilities Committee, Village of
Campbellsport, Cardinal Construction and Barrientos Design and Consulting
architect will be on site for the formal ground breaking. County officials say the
new facility has been in the planning stages for nearly a decade and has been a
cooperative effort between the Village of Campbellsport and County in selecting
a site that designed to meet needs of today and the future for serving transportation
maintenance in the area. The new 17,300
square feet building will replace a 5400 square feet building built
approximately in the 1930’s. The new
structure will have additional storage capacity, room for employee’s to work
and maintain equipment inside, compared to the old facility. The new facility located on one 5 acre parcel
will include a 3600 ton capacity salt shed that will be constructed that will
be shared between the State and County. Highway Commissioner Tom Janke says the new facility will increase efficiency and safety for staff. The project is scheduled to be finished by
the end of the year.
