Wildfires scorched more than a thousand acres of marshland in Fond du Lac and Dodge counties last week. Crews brought a large wildfire that grew to 600 acres near Brandon under control

buildings were burned and no one was hurt. in Dodge county a wildfire burned 500 acres in the Horicon
Marsh. Heavy rain over the weekend helped lessen the threat but DNR Wildland Fire specialist Cathrerine Koele says spring is Wisconsin’s mostactive wildland fire season. Koele says most wildfires are started accidentally by
humans. The Brandon fire was started accidentally when a controlled
burn quickly
spread out of control.
