A proposal that would involve tearing down the historic Retlaw Theatre in
downtown Fond du lac has been approved by the city council…but the city manager
says there may be another, competing plan in the works. City manager Joe Moore
told the council this week that someone who wished to remain anonymous called him and said they were in the last stage of putting together a competing plan. Moore said the caller didn’t feel comfortable coming forward
because of partnerships involved. Commonwealth Development is seeking a half million dollar
grant to convert the building
into office and retail space on the first floor and apartments on the upper level. The theatre would come down for parking.
