A 13 year old girl has been arrested
for starting a fire in a restroom at a Waupun park over the weekend.
Shortly before 5pm Saturday firefighters
were called to Johnsons West End Park women’s restroom area. When
officers arrived the fire was out. A few minutes later on the opposite
end of the park there was an ambulance call for a young female suffering from
smoke inhalation. The 13 year old girl was treated and transported to the
hospital. Waupun police chief Dale Heeringa
says the girl eventually admitted to starting
paper products in the restroom on
fire with a lighter. The teen will be referred to Dodge
Co. Juvenile Intake on charges of Reckless use of Burning Materials. No damage was reported
to the city owned restroom where this incident took place.
