6-18-14 lawmaker donations

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A new report says that nearly two-thirds of the money Wisconsin lawmakers raised last year came from donors who lived outside of the recipient's legislative district.  The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign report released Tuesday examined donations from individuals of $100 or more given to members of the state Assembly and Senate in 2013.  The percentage of money that came from people outside of the lawmaker's district was the same for both Democrats and Republicans — 64 percent to 36 percent.  Republican Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald raised the most from out-of-district donors at about $137,000. Rep. Jon Richards, who this year is running for attorney general, raised the most among Democrats at nearly $43,000.  The Democracy Campaign report findings are consistent with odd-numbered years dating back to 2003.
