4-4-14 fdl fire department awards

Fond du Lac, WI: Each year the Fond du Lac Fire Department awards members of the department for their exceptional effort  and rewards the following; Officer of the Year, Firefighter of the Year, and Paramedic of the Year.  The Department also awards a team of firefighters for outstanding service with a Unit Citation/Commendation Award. The FDL Fire Department appreciates these members’ bravery and courage, exceptional service, and achievement to the Department.

Officer of the Year:  This award was presented to a member who exemplified the standards of excellence and service to the community subscribed to by the Fire Department.  This individual candidate exhibited an extraordinary commitment to leading the Fire Department and has earned the trust and respect of his subordinates and peers. This was evident by his actions in the role of Acting Captain for an extended time and his abilities to organize and manage the day to day fire department operations.

The FDL Fire Department 2013 Officer of the Year is Lieutenant Joe Maramonte.

Firefighter of the Year:  This award was presented to a member who has best exemplified the standards of excellence and service to the community subscribed to by the Fire Department. This individual was a team player who supports others’ efforts to achieve the goals of the Fire Department, supports the Fire Department by embracing its policy and procedures, and by engaging only in constructive criticism that will lead to improvements in the service.

The FDL Fire Department 2013 Firefighter of the Year is Engineer Paul Loderhose.

Paramedic of the Year:  This award was presented to a member who has best exemplified the standards of excellence and service to the community subscribed to by the Fire Department. This individual is a team player who supports others’ efforts to achieve the goals of the Fire Department, supports the Fire Department by embracing its policy and procedures, and by engaging only in constructive criticism that will lead to improvements in the service.

The FDL Fire Department 2013 Paramedic of the Year is Paramedic/Firefighter Mitch Petersen.

The Unit Citation/Commendation:  This award was presented to a group of Fire Department members who made up a company, which performed in an outstanding manner for service to the community.  The following members earned a Unit Citation for their lifesaving efforts during an ice/water rescue in Lake Winnebago. 

Lieutenant Rick Gerritson, Engineer Kevin Doll, and Paramedic/Firefighters Curt Smits, Jake Vogds, and Ben Kooiman
