Fond du Lac High School has announced that Dakota Vaughan and Robert Gruenstern have been named National
Merit Finalists. Dakota is the son of William and Pamela Vaughan, and Robert is
the son of William and Georgette Gruenstern. Dakota Vaughan was also awarded a
$2500 scholarship through the National
Merit Scholarship Program. The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic
competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High
school students enter the National Merit Program by taking, in their junior
year, the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test
(PSAT/NMSQT), a test which serves as an initial screen of approximately 1.5
million entrants each year. Dakota and Robert placed in the top 1% of high
school seniors who took the PSAT.
