The Fond du Lac County executive says he was surprised and
disappointed to hear that Fond du lac Congressman Tom Petri was not
running for re-election.
Petri has represented Fond du Lac County and the 6th congressional district since 1979. "I think he's done a fantastic job for this area. He's not only a politician, he's a statesman,' Buechel told AM 1170 WFDL's Between the Lines program. Buechel says Petri has been instrumental in helping a number
of local projects move forward. "The Pioneer Road underpass...he got $6 million earmarked in the federal budget along with senator Kohl. The children's dental program...he got $400,000 earmarked in the federal budget for that."
