Fond du Lac congressman Tom Petri made it official Monday…he
is not seeking re-election this fall.
Petri made the announcement at a town hall meeting in Neenah. "I am here to formally announce that I will not seek to represent the 6th District in Congress for another term. This is a decision I reached after serious thought and consideration with my family and others," Petri said. Petri was first elected to Congress in 1979 in a special
election following the unexpected death of Republican congressman, Bill
Steiger. Petri said there were several factors that contributed to
his decision, but that no one factor led to his decision not to run…He did not
elaborate on what those factors were. Petri will be a guest at 9:30am Thursday on AM 1170 WFDL’s
Between the Lines program.
