3-14-14 fdl couple charged in child abuse case

A Fond du lac couple accused of abusing two children have officially been charged.  Forty six year old Jeana Riehl and her husband 46 year old Troy Riehl made their initial Fond du lac court appearances today.  Jeana Riehl faces 11 counts of child abuse and neglecting a child.  Troy Riehl is charged with eight counts including party to the crime of child neglect and child abuse and failure to prevent child abuse.   According to a criminal complaint Jeana Riehl is accused of  abusing two boys for a period of several years…striking them with a rolling pin,  cutting board, horse whip and hunting arrow, and locking one of the boys in a bathroom for weeks.   According to the complaint, the boy was allowed to come out for one meal a day.  After approximately a week of being locked in the bathroom the boy was allowed to be out during the day but had to go back in the bathroom to sleep without blankets or pillows.  The complaint says Troy Riehl was not physical with the boys…but did nothing to protect them.  Fond du lac judge Peter Grimm ordered $5000 cash bail for Jeana Riehl and a $500 signature bond for Troy Riehl.  A preliminary hearing for both is scheduled for March 21^st.
