Multiple snowstorms this winter is taking its toll on road
salt inventories across the state. The
State Department of Transportation has directed counties to reduce the amount of salt used on state trunk
highways in an effort to conserve the existing salt inventories. Dodge County Highway Commissioner Brian Field says motorists will notice a difference if we get another major snowfall. Field says the unusual winter weather has made getting
additional salt difficult.
