A Waupun bride will be featured this week on a popular television reality show that reveals whether she will walk down the aisle in a new
contemporary wedding dress or the dress her mother and grandmother wore. The Something Borrowed, Something New episode Tall Order Bride airs at 9pm Friday on
the TLC network. The tall order bride is Bridget Nickel a slender six foot tall former Waupun High School volleyball star. Nickel says she has been a huge fan of the show watching the
episodes every week as she plans her wedding. "My mom broke her foot last April and she was sitting on the couch watching TV, Friday Bride Day, because I was engaged and she likes to get ideas from those types of shows," Nichol told AM 1170 WFDL's Between the Lines program. "She saw that they were going to have casting for the show so she applied." Bridget, her mom Julie, and best friend were flown to Los
Angelas last summer for a week’s worth of taping that will air on Friday night’s
half hour episode. On the show designer Kelly Nishimoto reworks the
borrowed gown and stylist Sam Saboura consults with the bride and a salon to help her
find a contemporary wedding dress of her dreams. "I was actually already planning on using my grandma's and my mom's dress," Nickel said. "Originally I did want that (dress) because its a 90s dress, so its got the poofy shoulders and the "dated look" so I originally wanted it to fit my style." But Bridget admits the new dress picked out for her was gorgeous. She says you will have to watch the show to see what she decided. Bridget and her finance Derrick Winterhack will be married
June 28th.
