Doctors at Children’s Hospital say 16 month old Olivia Fieck
is a miracle. The daughter of Tara
Wuest and Lucass Fieck of Fond du Lac was born September 22nd, 2012. Wuest says she first became concerned last
summer that something may be wrong. "When she was about nine months old I started noticing that she was going through early puberty," Wuest told AM 1170 WFDL's Between the Lines program. At first doctors didn’t think it was anything serious…but
that changed last September. "I took her back in for her 12 month check-up and the pediatrician looked at me and said "You need to take her to Childrens." On October 14th an ultrasound revealed a
large tumor on her adrenal gland. About a month later came the news that every parent fears…it
was cancer and it had spread. "I almost fainted because I couldn't believe it," Wuest said. "I just wanted to see for sure if that was actually going on." Olivia was diagnosed with a rare form of childhood cancer called Adrenocortical Carcinoma and is in stage 4. Doctors at Children’s
Hospital gave Olivia only six months to live without treatment so Tara says the decision was made to begin chemotherapy. "I decided to go ahead with the treatment and it has done wonders. The pictures went from barely seeing a lung to only two nodules after the first round. After the second round (chemo) everything was gone." Tara says Olivia still has about eight months of
chemotherapy…but miraculously her cancer is in full remission. "I am very thankful for this chemotherapy. She is a miracle." Meanwhile friends have organized a fundraiser to help pay the growing medical
bills. The fundraiser will be held from 2pm-9pm Friday at the Backstage Bar and
Grill in Fond du lac.
